I am so glad that you were able to contact me through WEC. How often I have tried to contact others that were with us at BI, but was not successful. Aletta and I were sorting out some things of ours just two days ago and came across the class pictures of our class of 1965 and 1966. As I looked at the pictures I just wondered were everyone was. Lots of fond memories of Bi and all of you in that class.

It is wonderful to see what the Lord has done through the B.I. students. I would like to give a short update to our story.

When we were accepted into WEC International, the Lord lead us to Colombia, South America to work with the Guahibo Indians. After learning Spanish in the USA as a Field requirement, we went to Colombia. At the Wyciffe Bible Translators base in the jungles we learnt the Guahibo language. After 3 years the government prevented us and other missionaries to work with the Indians. We spent the next 6 month working at the Wycliffe Bible Translators base in their print shop and were able to meet up with some of the Indians passing through. The Lord then redirected our paths to the USA, where I was able to expand the WEC Press. A vision I have always had was to print the Scriptures in languages other than English. I did not keep count of the languages I had printed, but was challenged by many folk as to the quantity. So Aletta and I sat down and counted them as memory served. Well, the end result was over fifty.  Praise the Lord.

Eddie Markus and family1966In 1999 the leadership advised that, because of lack of staff,  we should close the WEC Press. I dismantled the equipment and packed it all into a 20 foot container, which was shipped to our WEC Press in Brazil. They flew me down to Brazil to reassemble the equipment and train the nationals there. At present we are still with WEC and serve here at the USA headquarters. I am the computer consultant for USA WEC and Aletta has retired.

I administer Dialysis for Aletta everyday, here at home. She is connected to the Cycler for 10 hours every night.  We have two sons, Jamie and Jonathan. We also have three grand children and one great grand child.

How I would love to be there with you for the 50 year BI Reunion, but under the circumstances it will not be possible to attend. Do pass on my greetings to all, and hope you will be able to send pictures of all the folk there.

So much to catch up. I do not even know were to begin with asking so many questions. I will remember you all on that day and pray for you. I am looking forward to news from you all.

    The Lord bless you greatly.

    In His service,

    Ed Markus
